86 accord needs work
ok so ive got an 86 accord lx 4 door with a 12 valve carbureated engine. Ive been babying it for too long. Want to upgrade the engine for starters. What kind of engine would fit the best in this type oof situation. I was thinking maybe a b16b but i wasnt sure. Also keep in mind i live in Alaska. Im not sure where you guys are all from but i need something that hauls in the summer and wont fly off the road in the winter. Any help would bde awesome thanks
You really don't need a swap, its overpriced.
To drop a B series in it you need a kit from place racing witch is over a grand for mounts, axles, shifter, wiring, etc...
For that price you can get some nice parts for your A20.
For starters you can rip out all that extra emissions crap. Then slap a Weber carbureator, DC Header, MSD ignition. Then you can dive into the head, port and polish, port matching, three or five angle valve job, regring the cam, cc the compustion chaimbers. At that point you will be in the 160HP range no problem.
Or you can convert to PGMFI, **** the B16 manifold will work with your engine. That with a nice Throttle body will give you a nice kick in the pants. Then you can build up the bottom end with forged rods and high compression pistons. Or you could always slap on a turbo
A couple sites you need to look at are 3geez.com and accordcentral.com
long live the mighty A20, cast iron blocks rule.
