i'm fabbing up a bracket to mount my corbuea forza into my hatch, its plenty burly and stiff, will be plenty strong enough, but is it going to pass tech? i've seen some you can buy and they kinda suck, dont look strong at ALL....but they have a name brand on them. a friend of mine told me that if it doesnt have a name brand or somethign stupid like that, it wont pass with some inspectors. is that true? sounds kinda stupid if ya ask me, but i'm new to road racing. thanks for any input in advance.

i'm gonna do that if i plan on racing competatively...but i plan on doing plenty of lapping days, and many of them have tech inspections. i dont know how comprehensive those inspections are, we'll see. i'm basically wondering how many people have fabbed thier own brackets.

Get in touch with the organization that runs the lapping days, and get a copy of their rulebook.
There should not be a problem with this, but you will need to check with them.

i would think they would pass you. there are plenty of things on racecars that are fabbed up, including seat brackets. just so long as the seat isn't held down by zipties.
I fabbed up my own seat brackets (side mounts). I also fabbed the mount to the body. Plenty of people do it....just make sure it is stronger than you think it needs to be.

If you're allowed to "fab" your own cage, I'm sure you're allowed to have a non-name-brand seat mount. Above all else they will evaluate it based on safety. As noted above, it's always better to ask the tech inspector what he's going to say than to ask us what he's going to say

yeah....i guess your right...i'm a nood to road racing....i grew up drag racing and realized last year my NA civic turns better than it does go straight and fast at the same time. my little bro is a "master" welder (not technically, he's self taught, but very good).....and i'm a decent fabricator, so we'll do fine i think. thanks for your input dudes. -adam
