Default bumbing up the compression on a stock b16 head?

My headgasket is leaking off my B16a. Would it be of any benefit/ or gain if I bought a new oem headgasket and just use the middle layer to up my compression? The motor is stock with just the I/H/E and aebs manifold.

the stock compression is 10.3 and 10.8 with a single layer gasket.

Its supposed to leak "off" the motor, its not sealing against anything for christ sake!

I wouldn't remove the layers on a stock headgasket. Doesn't make sense to me. You will most likely wind up warping or bending the remaining layer in the process and thus ruining your headgasket. Just buy the Spoon one. It isn't THAT much more then a stock headgasket. Just keep in mind, the difference you get from going up .3 in compression will be slim to nill. I would be willing to bet you would not notice a single thing.

Just get a new stock one to put in. Like Hybrid93Eg said, you most likely will not be able to tell the difference in .3 compression especially with just a bolt on motor.
