Default Wiseco Pistons on Stock RODS

i was looking into uping my Compression in my b20vtec setup...ive focused more on the head but now the block..to reach my goal of 200 hp to the wheels...

just barely taping 189hp right now all head work...

so i was wondering if anyone had experience putting after market pistons such as JE or wiseco on stock rods..is it possible? i know the concept a little? but has anyone done it?.

You can do it 2 ways i believe. You can either heat the stock rod ends (small) up and push the pin in with the piston or you can machine the stock rod to use floating pin. Either will work, but heating is sometimes easier.

I hung SRP's on my stock ls rods, the machine shop said heating them wouldnt work, they tried and it didnt expand enough, so they machined the small end and put bushings in there, it looks good, however I havent started the motor yet, just to let you know also after the money I spent on arp rod bolts, machine work to the rods, etc I spent almost as much as I could have got a set of eagle rods for, if I would have shotpeened them I probably would have spend the same as a used set of eagle's...I speak from experience and cost wise, I dont recommend it

I'm not flaming, but I don't understand how people pay so much for these rods to be reworked. I paid 35 for ARP rod bolts, 36 to get rods resized, and 20 to put the pistons on the rods. Shotpeening is really necessary either, but is estimated to be like 50. That is no where near the 300 or so that you pay for eagles. Unless you have to buy rods for your setup, but if you have a block, usually, rods come with it.

did you also have the machine shop hone the big end after putting the arp bolts in? because you should have, that was $125 for me including the arp bolts, call it expensive, but when it comes to machine work, ive learnt to spend whatever they want as as long as the job is done right.

My rods didn't require me having to hone anything out for the bolts. Like I said above, I only had to pay for the bolts, the install of the pistons, and the resizing of the rod to ensure the rod end was true. I installed the rod bolts myself, its not that hard to do. Of course, I have a GSR also, which may be different than LS/B20.

I put wiseco pistons on my stock f20b rods
HAd to have the machine shop hone the small end of the rod down a bit to accept the pins. Cost me like 18$ to do all four
the thing is that the f20 rods have floating pins stock
I dont think b series arent though, so they might have to hone them enough to accept a bearing in the small end.
I could be wrong though
