If your stock transmission is going out, then yes I think it would be a great upgrade. If not, then I think you can spend the money better elsewhere (final drive maybe). As for a 3 puck clutch, I wouldn't touch one unless I absolutely needed it, and unless you're making some crazy power, you don't need it.

I say you do the B16 tranny with the 4.785 final drive .. that is what I would like to see.

I say go for it. I replaced my GSR tranny with the B16A, and it was well worth it. If you can get one for a reasonable price (i got mine for around 1100 used), its worth the time money and effort. Improves acceleration but kills gas if u do a lot of highway driving

so i bought the b16 tranny for 550 its a 2001 its pretty cool right now love the first 3 gears but dont knoe bout 4'th and 5th. went to the track today and didnt like the fact i gotta switch to 4th way before the track is over. with old tranny end of the track is the end of 3rd gear or right right at the beginning of 4th. but im pretty happy. thanks for your opinions.

550 i think thats a steal if it has no grinds or nothing. seen most of go for around 700+. was there any difference when you went to the track? improvements? 60ft.? or such.

cant wait to do my trans work in summer. 4.9FD + LSD in ys1 [92gsr] + lightweight flywheel = one quick revving f**ker

if u can get it at a good price definently get it. What i would do is get 4.78 FD and some LSD. Or just save up and get a jdm type r tranny.

Yeah, it should improve acceleration, and therefor 1/4 times. But doesn't fifth gear top out at like 108MPH?

I have a JDM B16 tranny with my Ls/Vtec and I gotta say...the acceleration is awesome. They thing is...I do a SHITLOAD of highway driving and my gas bills are huge. Might possibly consider trading for a GSR tranny in great condition. Mine's got 45k on it. Don't mean to jack the thread, just trying to help some people out

good choice going with the b16 tranny . did you get the exedy clutch ? the exedy 3-puck is not like a act 3-puck . totally different design , very streetable clutch that holds power

I have an ls and i threw a b16 on it...it helped out like crazy, it put me into the 14's in the quarter....

The only that sucks is that it is geared low so hi-way driving is gonna suck...

But slammin 1 through 4th in the quarter mile is gonna be fun as hell...
