Default Question about those halo/projector lights...

What is the light output of those things? Worse than stock?

I wonder how the lighting would be if HID's were installed.

I've heard that the projectors suck with hid. Something about the reflectors in the projectors etc not being enough for the hids.

as far as light output mine put out way more light than stock, if you get the halo ones keep you stock headlights incase you have to send them back, one of my halo's didnt work when i got it so....and the lights burn out quick...

i have a set on my 89, make sure you hold onto the stocks, my halo didn't work when I got em, but I took the housing apart and fixed it with a little help from radio shack. lmk if you have any questions on them, I can probably help you out.

Also, the light output is decent, just make sure you get good head light bulbs, otherwise you'll be wishing you had your stocks back on.

HID's won't work well in projectors that were designed to be used with halogen lamps.. the projector lens is not designed for the light pattern.

I've also heard of them melting from the extra heat (most have warnings molded on them)

On 300zx's there is a company that swaps out the porjector lens for one more suited for HID use.

HID is a cold burning lamp. i doubt there is any melting occurring. most likely the wires used in conversion are not rated for the voltage and amperage and those heat up and melt. upgrade the wiring and everything should be ok.
anyone still makes non halo projectors?
