Default VTEC

Which Civic Models have the VTEC in them? What were the Horsepower ratings for these engines? (I am looking at model year 1994 or higher)

D16Z6 124 hp (1992-1995)
D16Y8 126 hp (1996-2001)
B16A2 162 hp (1999-2000)

Edit: I mistyped the B16's hp rating. I appologize.

He's obviously looking for the "performance" VTEC or I would've included the others.

B16's are rated @ 160 hp. 140/2 is a LS.

so a d16z6 makes 124 whp? I think not, unless he was only showing the whp rating for one of those engines... it was just a slip up, 160 to the crank, prolly about 140-150 at the wheels.

I appologize. I meant 162hp for the B16A2...must have been my subconscious loathing of this particular engine that caused the slip up .

But I jest. The b16 is a fine specimen of ingenuity, and if you don't mind your car having less torque than an electric pencil sharpener, the B16 might be the engine for you.

for a stock d16z6? Oh yea. That means either honda underestimated their power by alot, or honda manage to make an engine that only has .3% drivetrain loss in power.
