h23 vtec rod and piston very technical (i think)
im building an h23 vtec, i have everything ready to go.. now i have some crower rods i want to throw in there but crower told me that i could not run these with stock pistons, because stock pistons use a floating wrist pin and the rod is meant to be used with pistons that have a locked wrist pin like je or srp but i noticed that type s pistons use this same mechanism. would i be able to use crower rods with type s pistons or do i have to buy je or srp (500.00).... i also heard that 97 and up usdm preludes use the piston that i could use
you must have this backwards.
type-s pistons are floatin pin design.
All aftermarket rods I have seen are also floating pin design.
Crower must think you are going to use H23 pistions, which are press fit. But you're using type-s so I don't see a problem. Pistons like JE SRP and the like are also floating pin design.

Make sure the pin to rod clearance is right. It should usually be 0.0005" for floating pin. I know eagle makes two versions of their H22 rod. One has a small end sized for aftermarket pistons and one for the Honda H22A4/Type S pistons, which have a 0.001" smaller pin I think.

i had a 2001 h22a4 block sitting around with nice window in it and i took the rod and piston out and i found that the piston has a floating pin(thanks for correcting me)like the type s so i slapped the usdm 2001 pistons on the crower rods and kewl they work
