In-car Communicators for Driver's Schools... I want a better one...
Hi gang... I have the little $50-60 blue ("Nady" maybe?) communicator for in-car instructing. I've had mine a little under a year, and it's already giving me attitude. I don't want to just get a new one of these every year. I'd like to buy a *good* one. One that'll last a long time, one that is really good quality, and one I can leave in my helmet. But... I don't know where to look and since there are LOTS of instructors on this list, I thought I could get some good information from you guys.
So, if you use a communicator other than the "cheap blue one" and you like it... tell me about it. If you know where to find one online, a link would be nice. If not, perhaps an approximate price.
Thanks in advance gang!
Diane

Out of curiosity, what problems have you guys had with them? Mine's fine, but it's pretty new (I used Diane's some at the beginning of the year).
Michael Bird had a *really* nice two-piece one - in stereo. I remember looking at it and thinking, wow, I need to get me one of those. But I bet they're pricey. Next time I talk to him I'll ask him where he got it.

Check Barnette's Suzuki on Lake Wheeler Road in Raleigh. They have something called the "Chatter Box" used for motorcycle communication. Supposed to work really well. And it should. I priced one at well over $100.
Might want to check with svt_coupe on the chatter box. He has them said the the metal ring that goes over the ear is a PITA. Might want to check to confirm that however. I just ordered a Nady PMC-2 and was thinking of adding something to grab it with on the under side of the earpiece so it might wear longer.
Here are some ones that get used by rally drivers, so you KNOW they work.

My parents and everyone in their riding club use 'The Chatterbox' it is the only one that blocks out the wind noise the best. They just get on their bikes, plug in their helmets, and off they go
