Default Got my 01 ITR cluster mounted in my 91DX...just need to tackle the wiring...

The mounting wasn't all that hard at all. I epoxied 2 little rubber mounts that holds the gauge in the right vertical position, and then used 2 bolts on either side with a thin metal braket to pull the cluster to the cover. Its very sturdy, and took about 20 minutes to fab up.

The guy I bought the cluster from forgot to include the plugs/wire, so I'm kinda waiting on those before I start the wiring. The wiring doesn't seem to hard either. I have the correct pinout for my 91, and the 95+tegs so all it consists of is cutting the CRX wire and soldering it to its corresponding wire on the teg plug.

That is gonna look FAWKING sick! Only thing that I hate is the shift light, maybe not the light iteself but the *** yellow cover on it. Paint it black or something.

Props on the fab though

The covers just on there to keep the dust/debree out of the light as I'm doing the install. With a shift RPM of about 9K, I won't have to worry about light coming on all the time, so i'm going to just leave the cover off.

Thanks a lot!

I wouldn't have the shift light if this was my daily driver. This CRX will be seeing the track almost as much as it will be seeing the street. When revs climb like lightning, its good to have a shift light to let you know your about to smack into the limiter...

Thanks a lot guys.

Yeah the mounting of the entire thing in the dash is somewhat difficult. The cluster is wider than the sides of where it sits, so I've had to kinda hack it up with my dremel (5 minutes worth of work). The hacking isn't visible at all tho once the cover is mounted.

Looks good, that's exactly what I had to do... Cut the dash a little and slide the cluster/cover in...

About the gas gauge...the stock gauges just stop where-ever they were when the cluster was pulled.

Pics of the whole thing mounted...

What is the red wire(s) running out from under the cluster cover? Shift light? That's crazy, yours and Will's look pretty much the same... I still have to put in his gauges when his pods come in... Almost done

I know you've seen this but just to show the similarity...

EDIT: I would also like to thank this man ^^^ for the idea of swaping this cluster in. If He didn't wright up a post about it, I probubly would have gone with a full Autometer setup

Hehe...that red wire is the ground/voltage lead for the lighting for my autometer gauges....Since I have to wire the cluster in still, I have it just off to the side.

All that white powder stuff is the plasitc debris caused by my dremel...hehehe.

It definetly looks like Will's, but I'm all USDM YoO!.

really nice!

i plan on doing the same thing with my ef but its rare to find usdm itr clusters, so my last resort might be jdm, and for jdm dont' you have to have the vss or something? i searched on the forums and they said you had to configure your ecu or something so it might be too much hassle

JDM clusters are the exact same as USDM therefore the wiring also stays the same... All need an electronic VSS

This swap does require the wiring of a VSS into the car...not very hard at all.

And about the ECU thing...no.

The stock 4th gen Civic, CRX, and 2 gen Teg all run a cable driven VSS... Their stock clusters convert the cable rotation into a signal in the cluster itself where it is interpreted on the speedo as well as sending an electronic pulse back to the ECU... For this reason you can not just use the stock VSS... As Bryson said there's really not much too it as you only have to tap in 3 wire (power, ground, signal)... Again, I know most of you have seen this but this will kind of give you a visual... Peace
