Don't forget the Hondabond! You'll need to scrape the old Hondabond off the head before you put the new valve cover on, put the new gasket in the valve cover, and put some new Hondabond on the corners of the gasket. I would also get new spark plug gaskets. You can get Hondabpnd from the dealership also.

I thought there were only 4 rubber washers (or spark plug gaskets)? What's the 5th one?

actually if the gasket is in good condition you don't need to replace it (says so in the manual: replace only when worn out). But since you're in there you might as well do that and the spark plug gasket things too

Hondabond is around $20, but that tube will last you a long time. You only need to put a little bit on each corner. Don't use too much. Just ask the guys at Honda when you buy it. They'll show you how to put it on. Don't know how much the spark plug gaskets are.

i've never even heard of hondabond b4 guys!!??....i've always just swapped valve covers and only changed the rubber gasket if it's worn at all.....and i have never gotten any leaks AT ALL.....my car is a canadian model ...they come stock with rubber valve cover gaskets....i don't know if the usdm ones do or not!....but they hardly ever wear out enough to have to change them...as long as your careful when removing the cover!

Changing only when worn out is what the service manual says to do. It also mentions that you may want to put some gasket sealer in the corners of the head as well as at the edges of the cam "humps" on the head, but It's not necessary. And in your case, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" It's not leaking so don't worry about it
