Default Transmission Fluid Leak - Update

Crawled underneath today to see where the reddish fluid was coming from. It appears to be coming from where the intermediate shaft connects to the transmission. Hopefully there's just a bad seal that can be replaced without too much labor being involved.

I'm going to take it to a shop to have done. This is probably going to be one of those repairs that costs $10 for the part and $500 labor to have it installed.

Anybody ever have a similar problem?

Default Re: Transmission Fluid Leak - Update (Sam5)

Yep same problem. I just installed a new seal but after 2K mi it is leaking again. Not sure if the seal is bad or if being overfilled is the culprit. I'm going to drive the car and see if the A/T fluid drops below the low level. If so then its time to remove trans again and inspect. It is possible that the new seal was damaged when I put the torque converter back in. I asked the forum about what happens if the trans is overfilled but no responses yet. I put about 1/2 quart more than full into the transaxle by accident.
