QUicky: Car sputters up until about 2000 rpms. What is it?

QUicky: Car sputters up until about 2000 rpms. What is it?
I'm guessing the distributor right? We turned the dizzy all the way towards the firewall to see if that'd help but it still backfires.
Only two codes we're throwing are 21 ( Vtec ) and 41 ( Primary o/2 ) which isn't hooked up. What might be the problem??
Also.. I just walked through a few posts bodies... Injectors? Think it's a problem? I'm not sure but how big are the CX injectors vs. the z6/EX injectors? Lots of people want to say they are the same size but I'm leaning towards that not being true.
Will y8 injectors work on an obd1 vehicle? If that's the case I should be running across a y8 intake manifold in all of it's complete glory very soon so i'll use that.
Post up people. Help me on the y5.
