d15bvtec...2 stage or 3 stage
There are generations of that engine all the way from the old CRX (sucky gutless engine), to the 5th gen which is the most common, to the 6th gen. The 6th gen is the only 3 stage VTEC. The 5th gen which you probably have is basically like a Z6 head on a D15, ie a factory mini-me.
One way to know for sure is to see whether there is one or two VTEC solenoids. If there are two, then you scored. Either way the max hp will be the same but the 3 stage will be faster and get better mileage.

what year is the motor. if its an obdI motor. aka if its from 92-95. then its the d15b vtec that is comparable to the z6.
i wouldn't suggest buying the cam. as the d15b vtec mention above has a more agressive cam then the z6 and i haven't seen a cam that is worth the money.
ie. yes after market cam would add hp but its minimal and shitty for a cam

YES they are the sam cast head. its just it has a diffent cam in it. again i wouldn't swap out the cam unless you can find some specifics on the after market cam
