Replacing Front Bumper Cover
Hi ppl, i just registered because i was looking into replacing my front bumper cover on my Accord DX. It has lots of paint chips and rusting, i was wondering if it was difficult to replace because ive never done any work on my car like this before. Also, the accord is 4 years old, will it be hard to match the color? Do you think it would be easier to just touch it up with some paint? Well, thanks.
oh, haha i have another question too.. i have a grapefruit size dent on the trunk of my car, i used a plunger and that poped it a bit, is there something i could put on the plunger, make it stick to the car and try to pop the dent some more? Something that is safe on the paint?
Ummm.. you definetly cant replace it and paint it on your own and make it look decent.. I guarantee it will look like crap without the proper tools, paint, experience. I would suggest buying a cheap bumper on Ebay or here and getting a body shop to paint it for you.. You can prep the bumper before hand.. ( that should lower the labor cost a tad bit ).
In regards to your dent.. The plunger doesnt have enough suction to work on your car.. and I wouldnt trust an abrahsive on your paint.. but if you want to go that route.. you can get one of those dent popper kits you see on T.V.. I heard that they actually work on easy dents.. dont expect magic on stubborn dents..

it depends on what kind of bumper you are going to replace yours with, if you are going to replace it with another oem bumper then its not that hard of a job, however if you are going to get a kit or something like that, you are going to have to do some fitting and drilling. As far as the painting goes, id take it somewhere to have it done, i had a bumper painted once, and asked the guy if it would be cheaper if i prepped it myself, and he said it wouldnt make much of a difference in price, so i let them do the prepping and painting. you can hit me if you want the step by step on taking the bumper off, its actually pretty easy
