Default Did any of the CRX in the States use the ZC block?

Hi guys,

I need to know if a LSD of a ZC would fit onto my car. I have the D16A8. Thanks

nope we never got the zc in civic or crx.
but a similar motor was in the integra..
also i believe the trans for d16a6 and zc is the same trans just with different gears.

I have heard that all the zc gears will fit on the mainshaft of a si trans and that si gears will fit into zc trans not sure if that helps but if that is compatable then the lsd is most likely compatable

Thanks to all who replied.

All I'm really interested in is if the ZC gearbox is the same as the D16A8 gearbox. Been searching on the net and I only can find the comparisons of the 2 engines. But nothing about the gearbox.

from what i know (which could be wrong) is gears 1-4 in the ZC are a lil shorter then the SI, but the 5th gear is tall, but the SI 5th gear is shorter then the one in the ZC. im not positive in the 1st 4 gears, but i do know there is a difference in the 5th between the trannys and yes both gears will interchange between both housings. hope this added some info..

try checking the hybrid honda site I think they have a buildup of a CRX si trans using the ZC 5th gear

The tranny cases are the same. The gears on the ZC are shorter than the Si's but the Si has a closer final drive. You CAN swap gears between the two. I did the ZC/Si hybrid tranny: http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/tech/zcsifdswap.html but I went a step further and put in a phantom grip LSD and the 5th gear from the Si (better highway milege - same as Si). SO YES you could put the ZC LSD/Ring gear asembly in to the Si but yo'd also have to swap in the ZC final drive. This would lengthen your gears considerably. I think you should look into an aftermarket LSD. But you may be able to take apart the ring gear assembly and swap the parts to make the ZC LSD work on the Si ring gear. Hope that helps.
