Default Oil leaks from the bottom end? Help! Help! Help!

I got a 93 H23 prelude. The engine has been smoking for a while. It is getting worse. I see some oil on the driveway too. I had a shop to check before, it is not the oil pen gasket leaking. When i checked the engine block, i saw a bolt which under the oil filter had some oil. That bolt doesn't connect to anything. Can anyone tell me what is that bolt? And what are the possibilities cause the oil leak? Thx Sleepteg

Check the northwest cam seal. So, if you open your hood and you're looking at your valve cover, it'll be on the northwest side of the valve cover. Make sure you look good because it's kinda hidden in there. That cam seal is a recall, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's your problem.

Actually, it was the balancer seal I was thinking of, not the cam seal for the recall. However, the cam seal is just as unreliable as the balancer seal. It is a COMMON 4th gen problem, not historical fiction I'm making up (it's apparently his problem, too).

Well, you have two options. You can replace it with the OEM seal and have it leak again... or you can replace it with an aftermarket cam seal. Common aftermarket ones are Golden Eagle and STR. I caught mine at about 120k miles and replaced it with the STR.

Here is a link to an STR on ebay(however, it won't fit the S model) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...74793

I couldn't find an ebay link to the Golden Eagle.
