Default Apexi exhausts are complete CRAP...

wasnt sure where to post this topic but if anyone out there cares enough Im warning you to not buy apexi mufflers or exhausts... I have had my N1 for about a year and a half and the whole backside of the muffler where the inlet is has rusted completly through all the way around the welds. This is why they only warranty for a year because after 1 year is when they completely fall apart. Now im **** out of 220 for the universal muffler and it has a exhaust leak like a s.o.b.
Just letting you know...........has anyone heard anything like this from APEX products? I though apexi was supposed to be top notch stuff

Do they salt the roads in your area?

My friend had a single N1 catback on his car through 3 Massachusetts winters, and it still hasen't rotted through. And that's with hot rotary exhaust going through it, and alot of flames.

I have a dual N1 catback on my RX7 which I bought used from a kid in CA that had it for a year and there's zero rust on it.

Are you sure that universal muffler was a real A'pexi? That should be obvious, but you never know.

im pretty sure apexi complete exhaust systems dont suck.

you only have the muffler with some kind of custom piping. its not equal to their complete kit.

he is saying all of apexi products sucks, based on his experience with a universal muffler. ive seen all ranges of their exhaust lineup and they are top notch quality.

yeah the weather is probably what tore yours up... apexi is very high quality, however i think the n1 looks horrible on ef's... its WAY too big... but they do perform well... also you should let your car warm up if you are just going to be driving for a short period of time because what happens is that when you start your car condensation collects throughout your exhaust system... if you let the car warm up then the condensation will evaporate... if you drive off right away the condensation will collect in the lowest part of your exhaust system which is almost always the muffler... then if you dont drive around long enough for it to evaporate out of the muffler it just sits there and rust will develop and eventually eat through... so dont blame the company for something that may have unintentionally been your fault

I don't know of a 2.5" apex exhaust.

Could it be the muffler shop didn't do a good job on the exhaust since you only bought the muffler?

yeah I had 2.5" custom piping ran to the muffler and that is not what the problem was...the actually backside of the N1 rotted itself out; I usually let my car warm up before I take off down the road and there is not all that much salt on the roads here....and yes it was a REAL apexi muffler

you know... 5Zigen coats their axle-back with a anti-rust spray compound. It's gotten through an Ohio winter great, I just cleaned it last Sat. and no rust at all.

Apex catbacks are coated with the same type of stuff. I thought the universal mufflers had this coating on the inlet side, like the catbacks. Maybe you just kicked alot of salt and sand at that weld and it finally ate through.

a friend of mine has that on his crx and the car was slammed, the roads around here are pretty rough on lowered cars and he scraped the bottom of it sometime and im not sure if it is stainless steel or not but the raw metal were it scraped started to rust at the begining of the winter. I dont know if you car is slammed or not but if it scrapes it will be more likely to rust
