I recently tried my hand at rebuilding an SI tranny with DX gears....

From what I understood the DX and SI gear sets were the same its just the final drive thats different...

Well I **** the 2 trannys apart.... and tried to just put the dx main shaft and countershaft in the SI but it wouldnt work...

So i ended up putting the SI counter shaft in with the DX main shaft.

i turned the shaft.. switched gears before i put it back in. Everything seemed fine.

I put it all togeather and put it in and IT wouldnt go into reverse.. YEs the reverse gear is in the right way... it was very sticky and then after.. i rolled it down the street it would drive... sorta in the gears so i pulled it back up the hill when it went Brrr ZZZ POP and nothing now... i could rev it prety high and try to shift and i get a grind. it wont go into any gear....

Any ideas....

is the issue that i mixed the dx main shaft with the si counter shaft?

The DX counter shaft just wouldnt go into the si bearing.... the SI one would slide right in...

my guess is probably how you put it together...but, since we don't know exactly what you did or didn't do... .shrugs.
