VIR North 10/12-13-14 - Reports
Hey gang...
Back from VIR this weekend. Weather was teriffic most of the weekend (sprinkled a little today, mostly at lunch). Event ran well, on time, and SAFE! Nobody went home on a trailer that didn't get there that way.
This was a 3 day event. We switched over instructors/students on Saturday morning, so I had 4 different students. Nice variety of cars too... Friday, I had a Mustang with a supercharger (OMG FAST!!!), and a 98 ITR. Both fun to ride with. I did enjoy the feeling of torque though in the Mustang. Given that I have a Miata, torque is not something I experience all that often.
Saturday/Sunday I pulled a Miata and a PY ITR. Both great students. The ITR was scooting along pretty damn well for his first track event too.
Probably the most fun I've had in ages driving. Ron Spencer (red 1.6 Miata for those of you who don't know him) was up there and he and I went out together for several sessions and chased each other around. He helped me out with my line a bit, and got me going faster for sure. It's great fun to have a car to run with, and there just aren't usually many of those for me in instructor group. So, thanks Ron!
Guess that's about it for me. Hope some of the others will post up as well. Willard, B18CXr, RStoR, Darth Vadar, RacerBowie, Cobra, Chad, Mr Legoman... A good time was had by all.
I
VIR!!!
-- Um, I do need new rotors now (they have -pretty- cracks in them), and finally took a pad *almost* down to backing plate... Ouch!!!

The weather was awsome... untill late Sunday... while we were packing the cars.
Fun times were had by all!
~1:53-1:54 were my best times (street tires).
I hope to visit VIR again soon.

Yes, late Sunday was a lot of fun, huh Will?
I still had a great time working, although I'm definitely itching even more to be on the track!
DV- who will purchase rubber gloves in case of more incidents like Sunday evening

I LOVE throwing black flags at Audi wagons!
I had a good time even though I wasn't driving . . . next time. I enjoyed sitting on the right side for a few sessions with r2x and O-Man. It wasn't the side I wanted to be on ideally but it was still fun.

Had a blast and I'll be back! Thanks go to:
r2x: Thanks for the instruction. I felt really good about the whole weekend and learned a lot. Had a blast pushing those M3s up the hill...bwhahahaha!
Willard: Thanks for all the lil' help and answering all the "newbie" questions I had.
Robert: You don't understand how much your video shot of Turn 7 helped me. Thanks!
Jack/Jason/Chad: Workers rule! Without you guys, there would not have been a weekend for the drivers.

I think everybody had a great time, and it was awesome to get so much dry track time.. Even though I totally wasted a new set of A032Rs
Anybody who says they get 7-8 track events on a set of A032Rs isn't driving their "R" to it's full potential. 3 days of hard driving, and my drivers side tires are down to the wear-bar. Oh well.. it was well worth it! For those that were interested, the fastest lap that got recorded for me was a 1:50.1 on the North Course. Mmmm, it felt great passing Mustangs, Porsches, Vettes and M3s in the advanced group.. and oh yeah, the Audi S4 who was not happy about it at all.
Thanks to everybody who contributed to a wonderful event. See you at Summit Point.
