Condensation Problems
Has anyone else w/ a 5th gen had this. One of my headlights is badly fogged. i tried cleaning the outside of the lens but it seems that the problem is inside. What can i clean it with that will clear it up? Just to see, Honda said that a new headlight would be $350(estimate) w/o any bulbs, wiring, etc. Thats crap! ANy advice for a noob? gracias.

You must have a separation in the seal or a gap in the lightbulb rubber gaskets. Check those. I know their is a way to separate the plastic from the housing but i cant find the post.
Also NEVER buy parts from the dealership. HUGE mark ups. http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com has the headlights for about $240.

I saw a writeup on NASIOC once but can't find it now. First are the 5th gens Glass or plastic? I remember it was something about you took the light off the car. Stuff something in there that you can get back out like a rag or something that will be absorbent... Use a blow drier or something to warm it up but not too hot. then the towel will wick the water away. This won't be a perm fix if you have a leak. You could inspect it all over to see if you could see where water might be getting in. If you can see it maybe take some clear silicon caulk and apply a thin layer in the seal. Not so much that it stands out but enough keep the water out... It will most likely be a lot of work but IMO I would rather spend some time and fix it rather than paying for a new one.
If it is glass you could spray a little cleaner in there. Read the label though to make sure it doesn't have any warnings because you don't want something that will damage the reflective surfaces.

i would take the lamp housing apart and clean it, then put it back together using clear silicone. both of mine started leaking last year and i had to take them apart and reseal them.

heh, mine were already screwed up...had to use chrome paint to fix it.
good luck with those headlights.

If your reflectors are not stuffed, tehn don't squirt anything in there! I am unfamiliar with the light, but if it has removeable bulbs, then I suggest you tke the rubber shroud off the bach and drive around with the headlights on until the headlight is clear of moisture (stay out of the rain!) Then seal around the edge where the front glass is bonded to the reflector. My 92 'lude had water in the headlight wh4en I bought it and I found the shroud was missing. Someone had steam cleaned the engine and that is how water got in. Dried out fine and is still OK a year later
