Default apexi N1 damper users please help

i just picked these up from a friend of mine but we dont know which way the dampening adjustments go. which way is stiffen and which way to loosen? also, i assume the spring rates on these are 10/8 but can some1 confirm this? of course its for a R

edit: also from what i understand, there is no diff btwn the 99 and 00 spec ones are there?? i got the jdm 99 spec ones. these are 13 way adjustable just like the 00 ones?

Omg... I think someone got a new toy!!! And here i thought u were just ONLY getting ur clutch!!! Did u pick it up from Carlos??? Well the adjustments are weird, i have a set of N1 but it's kinda confusing... Clockwise would be tighten and counter clock would be loosen it up... U would hear alot of clicking and i have no idea what mine is set on... I just turn mine all the way to the highest and count backwards and i left the front at 6 clicks and the rear at 7 clicks... It's pretty harsh, but i dont care... I love it...

Correct all the way clockwise is the stiffest setting. From there you can back it off 13 clicks counterclockwise and thats the softest. They will keep clicking after 13 clicks but it doesn't do anything. I run full soft (13 clicks) on the street and full hard on both Gingerman and Gratton. I still haven't found the Idle setting for myself at Waterford Hills. As far as differences between 99 & 00. After disscusions with a guy at Apex-i and dismanteling a 99 & 00. There is no mechanical difference that can be seen as even admitted by an employee at Apex-i

I too have a set of apexi N1 coilovers but i heard that the 2000 spec does differ from the 99 spec. Something like a bigger piston inside the shock for better dampening?? Please don't flame me, i am just posting from what i read somewhere.

As for adjustments, are you sure that after 13 clicks counterclockwise, it doesn't do anything? I know there is something more like 39 clicks from end to end....so are you saying that the last 26 or so clicks are useless??

They are only 13 way adjustable. after the 13th click its all the same setting.

If the 00 Spec is actually the 00 Spec available in Japan, then the difference is a 46mm (compared to 40mm for 99 SPec) piston diameter, and an upgraded (silver rather than red) upper pillowball mounts.

I have a feeling the 00 Spec available in the U.S. is just a rebadged 99 Spec w/ the 00 Spec upper pillowball mounts. 40mm is small compared to other japanese coilovers, but at least it's better than stock. Also, the damping adjustability isn't as noticeable as Tein Type HA.

The US 00-specs also have the same 46mm piston as the jap ones. Also, the springs of the 00-specs are supposed to be lighter. Oh, and the spring rates are 9F/5R. HTH.

If it's for the DC2 and it has the 00 Spec springs it's 11/6. If it still has the 99 Spec springs it's 11/5.

9/5 is for EK4/9

I have a friend selling them, he has a GSR not a Type R & he said they dont fit his car. I am not sure if thats correct but he said that you cant adjust the stiffness. He said it was the Apex N1 dampers. Perhaps he has another set of coilovers? plz help

jimmy - well he's not selling the R, he just wants to return it to stock i have no clue why, its pretty damn quick before so watever.....i know he sold alot of his shieeet rite now so i dunno what is left really, i think just some misc bs stuff.....ohh i think the one last big item thing he has is the jun flywheel, momo 6pt harness and apexi n1 exhaust.

blitz - it wont fit his car cuz he doesnt have ITR rear LCA. u need that in order to fit in the rear coilovers.

aacckkk i forgot it was kg/mm, i knew something was not rite when i put that in, i was like it cant be only 20 something odd lb lol......guess i dont know the conversion then
