Default What is this black coating on my ITR Pistons?

I recently got some ITR pistons for my car. When I was looking at them at the shop where they are being installed, they have black coating on the sides on the piston wall? What is this stuff? Im assuming it makes it more lubricant? I have not seen this on a lot of pistons?
