Default Replacement key...

98 Honda Accord LX.

How do I go about getting a replacement key for the accord?
Is this something that is covered if I have an extended warranty?

Thanks for any help....

PS...Great forum

You can only get the key at a dealer. They are transponder keys and are coded to the car. Depending on where you are it should be around $25+tax. And no its not covered by an extended warranty.

Yeah but I believe its another 25-30 on top of the purchase price of the key to have them program it too. Thats just what I have heard.

I had misplaced my 2004 valet key a few weeks ago and called about getting it replaced. I figured the total to be about 50-60 bucks. Service deplartment said they would need to car and it would take a while to program. They charge about 15 for the key and 25 plus for the programming. I said I would look some more first and my wife found it between the seat and console.

OH! im an expert at this.. lost my keys 3 times man.. dayum all those times i gotten DRUNK and ****! haha! uMmM let's see, u can only get it at the HONDA dealer.. if ur key is a transponder.. ( your key has a big black head where the chip is.. ) it's about $30 (20) if u can flirt with "parts" guy.. and they gon need ur registartion card and iD.. so no FRAUD ****.. they can look up in the comp and see wHat code ur key was that fits ur car(if ur registaration and ID match, they go ahead and look it up thru their computer.. ) and does NOT neccesairly have to be a TRANSPONDER KEY FOR THE OLDER MODEL CARS!! goood luck!

ps.. i paid for two replacements and got 3 free!! heh heh! the beauty of beign a gyrL.. haha!
