so i go in my garage to turn on my R this morning and it didnt want to turn on. the motor didnt even try to turn. i had to try for about 2 minutes b4 finally it turned on. the car is bone stock by the way. could it be my starter? any help would be appreciated. thanx
make sure your battery terminal connectors are not loose. also, make sure the clutch pedal is pressing all the way in. if you try to turn the key and nothing happens, it could be the battery or starter. how did you get it to start? jump it or just keep turning the key and it suddenly started?

i got it started by trying again and again. i didnt jump start it or anything. i didnt leave my lights on either. i know for a fact that i had the clutch pressed down all the way cause at first instance i thought that maybe i was pressing the brake. the car didnt make a sound...not even that click sound. after tryin to turn it on i took the key out and waited a sec. then i tried again... turned the key all the way, and still nothing. so i gave it like...30 secs, then tried again and thats when i got it to start. it didnt last any longer then a minute or 2. ill check the battery when i get home or maybe later on at marc's crib when i go for the meet. thanx for the replys

almost 2 months ago i left my car to go in the store for maybe 30 minutes and when i got back the battery was dead. got a jump and later that day i inspected and tested the starting and charging systems. everything appeared and still today appear to be fine. the only thing i know was different from usual is i hadn't closed the ashtray all the way cuz the change was overfull.... and this saturn was driving around the parking lot so i wait til they go but when i walk out to the car the saturn had returned and parked next to my car but took off before i knew my car wouldn't start.
take a volt meter and see what your batt voltage is. if it is less then 12.4 your batt is dead and porbably the reason whay the car is hard to start. if it reads higher then 12.6 then it is not your batt. if your batt is pretty new, then you could have an alternator problem not charging the batt enough. with the car off take the voltage meter and see what the voltage is of the alternator where the F term is. if it is around 12 volts, then your batt is fine. but if you crank on and idle at around 2k see what the batt term of the alternator voltage is, it should be around 13.5-15. any lower then your alternator is shot. if all checks good, then it could be your starter. you could again take your volt meter and see the voltage drop. but you would really need to take the starter out and put a load on it to see for sure. i just went though all of this in my ASE classes.
