Default ***Golden Eagle vs. STR cam seal plug - which one doesn't leak***

I have a leaking cam seal. Looks like both are leaking on my teg. I changed out the exhaust side on with a honda cam seal but it leaked again. This has happened with my friend's teg also.

Which one is better?: Golden Eagle vs. STR. Only advantage of Golden Eagle is 3 o-rings. I read that someone on one of the boards had a leaking STR cam seal.

Have you experienced oil leaks with either Golden Eagle or STR cam seals?
How many miles have you run on Golden Eagle or STR cam seals?

Is there a lower price than $25 for the Golden Eagle cam seal?

Was there ever a group buy for the Golden Eagle cam seal?

Lowest I found for the STR cam seal is $22 at manchester honda.

I would appreciate any info you can provide me with. Thanks.

I used rtv sealant & torqued the bolts that hold down the cover over the cam seals to spec. I did this on 2 tegs with the cam seal leak problem. Honda cam seals will not leak in the 1st or 2nd year but they eventally leak. Honda redesigned the cam seals for the 96 tegs; they are better but still leak. Early versions were rubber, then they switched to a hard plastic.

Thats odd, Ive never had a problem after a new one either. I use sealant on them and torque to spec.

used both and none have leaked. rtv'd and torqued down. str has 30+k and the GE has about 12k. the str i even accidently used the red rtv instead of the gray one, lol.

i've used autozone cam seals on atleast 3 occasions with the engines going atleast 10k since.

I have *never* used RTV on anything but transmission cases and have *never* had a problem with any leaks
