Pro-power, power.. torque

Con-.. as long as you know what you're doing there shouldn't be any.. less MPG?

I might go LSV in winter. Still deciding whether or not to waste money on a K series or not.

I would personally go with the B16A. You can get them pretty cheap now-a-days and probably one of the most reliable honda engine. LS-VTEC is a good engine, if you build it right, with a high R/S you could be buying new cams more often then you should. ANd with your budjet I think a B16A would be a great investment!

I agree. The b16 is hella durable and you don't have to worry about any mistakes you make. Plus you can make b16 just as good and much better than a ls/vtec. It's just with ls/vtec you get more torque that's all :D but you can get that torque from a b16 with alittle work :D

Ya and like you said, its because the B16A was stock, which the LS/VTEC Is not

Just wondering I had this question also... I plan to do a B18a1 and doing LS/Vetec but i thought of lowering compression and then placing a turbo... If done right this should put out more HP/Tq than a B16.. At least thats what i'm hoping for.

I aint putting down the LS/V's, cause of course I would love to build one, one of these days. Just with the B16A you basically buy, then put in with the required parts.

2 for great swap!

there is no advantages to a b16 vs an ls except cost. A b16 will never make that kind of torque, and will get beaten in a street race almost everytime. The best performance bang for buck you could make (much better than a set of cams) would be the addition of an ls bottom end to a b16 swap.

I've got a B16 now, but I'm going to go LS/VTEC in about a years time (I'm a student and don't make much money). I'm going to completely go through the LS bottom end (which I already have sitting in my garage). I love my B16 but it's just too torqueless. That and I want low 13's N/A which is going to be much easier with more displacement.
