Default manual trans problems

i bought an 84 accord lx hatchback about 7 months ago and after lending it to my father my already weak clutch finally gave out. two weeks ago i took it in to get a new one installed only because i know its a huge hassle to do without a lift and i dont have a engine hoist anyway. Well after a million phone calls of delays i finally got it back and its making noises now. when I originally took it in my mechanic said he had to replace a bad cv boot and the clutch and that was it. I know its not brakes because it happens reguardless of whether or not the brakes are depressed. I also have to depress the pedal allll the way to the floor to get the clutch to engauge; and when i say all the way to the floor i mean alll the way. Even then i have to force it into first. I'm also haveing trouble downshifting. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Im more worried about the screaching noises than anything else.
thanks for any help you can offer
kevin

The only thing that I can recommend at this time would be to take it to a reliable mechanic. Also you dont need to remove the engine in order to remove the transmission. I know I wasnt alot of help but at least I tried. Sorry

not enough info to guess about the noise.
the clutch able could be stretched htough which would cause hte low engagement point though.

Take it to another shop. Pretty hard to diagnos a couple of problems when the work that was done to it is of poor quality....

thanks.. i am actually going to call him from a cell phone today and let him hear the noise himself. I've been going to him for about 5years now and he's kinda a friend of the family. This type of service is not normal so as you could probably tell this is severely pissing me off... if he couldnt do it he could have told me so and i would've tried myself. His sons are not new to hondas either seeing as they do engine swaps and rebuilds on a regular basis. Ohh well i guess this is what i get for getting an unusual *** car. Heh, the few performance shops ive contacted so far said they would not do an engine swap because it would have to be custom and they didnt want to do it. GRRRRRR!!!
thanks for the help so far
