Default Question about AEM Intake sound w/ bypass valve

I love the sound of my AEM intake, will adding a bypass valve change this sound; I live in Los Angeles so I’m not too concerned about rain but better safe than sorry right. I've heard that the bypass valve changes the sound of the intake but how much is changed??

cops never give me grief for my car which happens to be like 4 inches off the ground and where the mudflaps are it's only about 2 inches in the front(my early warning scrape system), I'm just always afraid to speed cuz i know if there is a cop anywhere in like a two block radius he will hear my car cuz of the intake Thanks for the info regarding the bypass valve, i guess i'm just gonna stay inside when it pours

the bypass valve does muffle it some, but there's no doubt when you hit vtec with it. it still gives the nice BWWWHHAAAAAAAA sound you know and love. i have the bypass valve and was on a track and my instructor commented on the 'howling' sound it made.

now, whether the bypass valve actually does anything... that's a different debate

Default AEM Intakes

Do intakes really make that much noise? I thought it was the exhaust that made a more noticeable sound/tone?

The intake noise is much smoother than the exhaust noise. It's VTEC (big cams) on an ITR that generates so much sound.....

So much praise for the BAAAAAWAHAAAAAAAAHAHAH sound that made me kinda regret of my Icebox purchase.
Just wonder.......can I interchange the icebox and the AEM intake easily by myself? And will the bypass valve lessen the chance of hydrolock as much as the Icebox itself?
Since there are so many people took off the AEM and put on the Icebox, I wonder what is their motive besides loud? (I like noise)

In another thread recently, the topic of the hydro-lock safety of the AEM VS the icebox came up... Someone has hydro'd their R with the icebox...Neither intake is completely safe in that regard.

The AEM with bypass makes it sound good and it takes away all the worry of going into a puddle...with or without bypass it sounds good.

nEoMuGen, if you want the BWAAAAH, just take the top off the icebox from time to time, you'll loose some torque but you'll get your bwaaaah. Probably helps to have the aluminum intake tube too. I like the deep angriness of the icebox, it's not so vulgar as an uncorked AEM...do you really need all that attention?
