Default DROpping out of VTEc

I just recently dropped a jdm h22 with lsd tranny. I shift at like 7-8k rpm on first

to second but drop out of vtec bad and it feels like forever to hit vtec again. Is

that normal? I was wondering if it could be my stock piping that i still have. My

fuel pump that is acting funny? WOuld a upgraded flywheel solve the problem? Or

some tuning? I just dropped the motor in and this is how it feels. My gf has a 5th

gen stick and it doesnt feel the same. Just wondering. thanks for the advice.

Can you check the tranny code? Maybe you don't have an H22 tranny...

Stock flywheel? What ecu are you using?

it is a jdm lsd h22 tranny. m2b4 i think. I have intake, jdm headers, and some cam gears. Nuthing is tuned. Im on a prelude 4ws p13 ecu but i dont think that would have any effect would it? Doesnt the jdm lsd have slightly longer gear ratios thus why i drop out of vtec more than a non lsd tranny. I installed the forbidden shortshifter to get some better throws but its still lags. WOuld it have anything do do with my stock exhaust system or 12 year old cat? Would it be restricting airflow which is making some kidn of powerloss. For some reason my jdm vtec reminds me of my crappy f22a. THe only thing that gets me pulling is vtec. And i think my high end sucks because of the restriction i have. i guess ill try something.

Heheh, try shifting faster than 30 seconds per throw...j/k. Landing in vtec should not be a problem especially if you are shifting at 8krpm. Hell at that rpm you could have your f22 engine's tranny and still land in vtec. When does your VTEC engage? If your ECU is stock the VTEC engagement should be at 5200rpm.

haha. Yes i knoe it could be the shifting but really im not that slow of a shifter!! It more like after 1st gear goin to second i just feel no more pull. My high end sucks ***. Maybe its because i have to much restriction but my gf 5th gen just seems like it revs 2 times quicker than my 4th gen vtec. Ill probably upgrade some stuff to see if it will help. UPgraded flywheel, exhaust, straight pipe( maybe), some msd, and was thinikin maybe buyin a vafc. I knoe i can set my vtec a lilttle earlier but doesnt it also allow me to keep it in vtec untill it drops a certain rpm? thanks guys . lots of help.
Also i have a kaikimoto jdm full cat back for the 4th gen. Anyone ever have it on the car? opinions etc?

i had this problem once with an accord tranny on my h22. i would shift out of first at like 7800 rpm. When i got into second(and i am a quick shifter)it was at like 4800 rpm, just out of 2nd gear. I hated it and so did the tranny. It bit the bust when i busted the shift fork into pieces!! I put on an h23 tranny M2S4 i think, and now it pulls great!! Damn that 5th gear though!! I do have all the accord gears lying around. I could alway slide in the accord 5th gear...good though!!

yeah my vtec hits around 5500. Just like jdmlude dude. I would shift around 7800 and when its in second gear it would drop pretty low like what he said 4800. Not exactly sure. But he seemed to have the same problem. Oh well. Yeah i really want to dyno and tune my car. But want to put some more mods on so it would be wroth it liek a vafc.

Huh? An M2B4 tranny and the USDM M2F4 stock 4g tranny have the exact same gear ratios.
