Default I need vouches saying i dont need a new harness!!! h23a1 to h22a swap!!!

ok ill copy the note my parents left me first!

" Ryan

Talked to greg

computer on the car (p13) will not talk to VTEC engine with the current harness.(prewired for vtec) a replacement harness will run from $500-$600. Then have to pay for wiring ect. Reason for CEL (i coulndt pull one up with paper clip, yes i was doing it right) comimng on is that the computer is not talking to the sensors because of the difference in the wiring harness.

the car will not pass inspection as is. you have to modify the exhaust (he thinks im a idiot, its running open header!)"

then goes on with some crap about selling the car.

i know that all i have to do is extend 2 wires and its the same harness! well anyways what im asking is for as many vouches as possible saying i can use my same harness. h23a1 one. so if your sure of it please say you vouch that it is ok!
and the reason is they dont trust me at all and they say the belive him over me. so i need your guys help! TIA

*waves hand*

im using the same engine wiring harness that came in my stock Special Edition (Si) Prelude. my shop just ran the VTEC wires. don't know the exact way they did it, but i know i didn't have to purchase a new wiring harness.

i don't have any first hand experience, but in my year on this website i have seen plenty of reputable people say you can use it. You just need to run the extra wires.

good luck

As others have said, you can use the harness from your h23a engine and just run the extra (2 i think) wires for vtec engagement.

As for the CEL code, even if you did not have the 2 extra wires hooked up, you would still be able to pull the CEL code just fine from the ECU.

I might look into getting a new mechanic. Good luck.

I'll throw in my $0.02 here, I did the exact same thing you are doing H23A1 to H22A swap. My car was prewired for VTEC, same as you. All I had to do was run wires from these locations:

to the proper sesnors on the engine.

From what your wrote it sounds like you are having a shop do the swap. It sounds to me like they are trying to screw you out of money.

no i did the swap and i thought it had a blown headgasket but it doesnt, but thats why i took it there because the place i bought it from said they would pay for it to be fixed!

Im doing a swap prolly soon on a 92 lude. I know that they dont come wired for vtec like 93 and up. What needs to be done different to run a jdm h22? I could still run the same harness right?

i have a 92 si that had an h23 and i did a jdm swap and i used the h23 harness...there is no reason why it wouldn't be fine to use the old harness..i compared an h23 harness and an h22 harness and they are identical except for vtec wires...

beebeeone, use the old h23 harness and just run the vtec wires directly to the computer. look around for a printout of the p13's pin locations and run the wires to the correct ones.

alrite, heres what me and a friend did. we went to radioshack and bought some wires and twisted them together with the cut wires on the vtec solenoid and pressure switched. then we ran them up and around the door and into the the ecu. ( i know, its really ghetto but it works!!) so for awhile we used paper clips and smashed them in there to hold them in. but they kept falling out so we decided to get some ecu pins. and now everything works good. no CELS at all.

As stated above... you can use your existing H23 engine harness and add the necessary wires. Please don't make him sell the car... that would be a waste.

So if i were to run a p28 tuned by hondata, i would have to run the wires to that computer like your saying to do to the p13?

Is there a clean way to run these wires? I'd imagine it being a little messy.

If you're **** about a clean look splice open the loom and run your wires to the specific location and then seal with black tape 3M scotch super 33 this some good electrical tape at about $4 a roll of 66' would give that eom wire harness look, thats what I use. btw butt connectors are a NO NO.

You probably don't have to run them all the way to the ECU. They are probably already in the harness that goes between the engine bay and the ECU, so you only have to add them to the engine wire harness. So look for the wires you need where the engine harness connects to the firewall harness before running your own...

Just did the swap in my car in december. just put ur h23 harness on the h22 and then wire in v-tec. i had to switch my distributor too just cuz the JDM had internal coil and my harness was for external. Other than that you should be fine tho. if u haven't already got that far, i'd say swap your h23 and h22 fuel rails so your fuel line will reach.
