jdm ecu
Are they plug and play for usdm s2000? i did a search but couldn't find a definitive answer conserning the immobilizer. I know that the Japanese doesn't use the Immobilizer. So could I just plug the jdm ecu to my usdm s2000?
The reason being I'm having problems with the OBDII usdm ecu and the emanage. I believe the JDM ecu is OBD I? (someone correct me if i'm wrong) BTW my car is built and turboed.
thanks
Sam

you might run into some issues with the immobilizer disabling the fuel pump, otherwise. the mugen ecu is a JDM ecu that is plug and play but all of the safety features built into the mugen ecu are removed such as warning indicators, emissions and immobilizer. Another thing to keep in mind, there is a speed governor on the jdm ecus.

I am looking for a regular stock JDM ecu not an aftermarket so that i can use the emanage to piggy back on it. The stock USDM ecu is giving me problems with tuning. can someone verify that the stock JDM ecu is OBD I?
could you bypass the immobilizer? how do the people using mugen ECU bypass the immobilizer?
thanks

The mugen gets away with it b/c it lacks all of those extra features. But similar to the Spoon, a JDM ecu may run into problems. I know of one other guy that ran the spoon ecu with problems dealing with immobilizer. Here's a tip, sell your emanage and get an AEM EMS, you'll thank yourself for doing the swap. As far as I can remember, on B-series post '96, there were obd1 but not sure if that applies to the ap1.

hold off on the jdm ecu thought, sell your emanage and see if you can pick up a used ems with wideband. You really don't need a tuner, with a laptop and datalogging, you can self tune it on the streets, and only tune for power/timing advance/retard on a dyno.

i already have the emanage wired into the car with all the extras like profec e-01, ignition harness, injector harness and such so removing that and installing the aem would cost extra money also i would have to eventually pay for aem tuning. i would also have to sell the emanage before i even think about getting the aem.

in all honesty, I would remove the e-manage stuff and sell it. It's worth the trouble. Remember that the emanage is a piggy back and there will be a limit to its function where if you ever build the motor and decide to run a lot of boost, over 15psi, you'll regret keeping the emanage. Do it right and don't kick yourself in the future for not making the switch. *I do not work for AEM nor does AEM give me $$$ but I do think their EMS is one kick *** mod for this car with limitless boundaries and worth the $$$*

the jdm ecu should be obd2, its just that jdm obd2 doesn't look for a secondary O2 sensor or a CFK sensor so it basically acts like a obd1 ecu. atleast thats how it works in the civic/integra world.
