2 questions....

im about to purchase a type r that is equiped with these two parts plus a aem cai.

1. How much hp whould this type r be producing right now
2. will these modifications viod the car's warranty (it's a 99)

I would guess that no more than 10-12whp. The Mugen E/H combo yields a mere 8HP gain over stock, it's a terrible price/performance ratio. And if the AEM gives you another 5-7 whp, the total package would be in that 10-12whp range.

 

you can have a tough time fighting with warranty sh*t at some dealers - in actuallity, the warranty is void if the modification caused the problem, in other words, you will most likely be ok with a I/H/E

Actually, those mods are very nice to have to start out with. But, is it USDM/CDM or JDM header and the exhaust? With JDM Mugen header, you should see a good flow. Also, all you now need is the Mugen ECU and valve springs to make ~180 hp at the wheel. I would say they are very reliable HP you will be happy with.

 

Don't forget to mention that the ECU will make the A/C useless (like he'd be using it up there anyway .. haha)

 

haha. Yup, while you're at it, since the A/C won't work, just rip it out and run Mugen CAI instead of AEM. That's a sure fire ~185HP according to EPGONZALES (his had spoon cat jacket, I believe).

 

A/C will work with mugen ecu, just have to cross 2 wires.

Isn't the Mugen ECU lacking code to compensate for the sudden power loss when the compressor turns on? And especially if you're idling and have your A/C on, wouldn't the engine just stall?

 

Just get it, you can't beat Mugen quality!!

All I see is the same graph of just his AEM, it comes out to 171 whp..
