? about block number
I think he means the serial number under the engine code. In that case, I don't know. I posted several times asking about this with no success. Maybe if you call the dealer up, they will have some sort of record, but I highly doubt it.
thanks for the replies!
sorry if theres confusion to my question but the serial number under the engine code is what im looking to get info on.

Yup, that's what I thought. You're not likely to get any replies about that. I posted a few times about that.
I don't think anyone knows.

The only info I know about is that the first digit tells you what model-year it's from. But it counts from when the engine was first available. So a B18C1 with first digit 1 is '94, first digit 2 is '95, etc...
I think the rest of it is just a serial #. Maybe Honda keeps a record somewhere of what car (by VIN) it was installed in at the factory?? After '96 or '97 they had to put a VIN plate on the block, at least in USA.

so when people talk about a non legit block, how do you go about finding out if it is or not?
thanks

I suppose that's an engine that's been reported stolen. Do the police go by the block serial #? Or the VIN? Or both??

Yup, this is true. However, I tried calling my local Honda dealer to identify an ITR block a while back, and they had no idea how to figure it out.
Remember, many times when the block you are checking is "shady", the VIN plates are gone/grinded off. You can't really grind off the stamped serial number without it looking real funny.

No, the serial number under the engine code stamp. It's like a 6 or 7 digit number.

to clarify what im looking for is the serial code under the B18C code, which is a 7 digit number. i know that 96 and up motors have the vin plates but as for 94-95, its just that stamped numpber, and the tranny just has a sticker.
