Brake change..
yesterday i tried to change my front pads, but for some reason i could NOT get the bolts on the calipers off. With all my might it would not come off. I didnt use a socket wrench but some other wrench im not sure what it was called. I even tried using the penetrating lubricant but no luck..Any tips on what to do or which tools to use?
Uh oh..... James
U probably used a crescent wrench which is probably the best to use. Dont use a socket becuase it will be easier to strip the bolt.
Which way were u turning the bolt? U should have been turning it clockwise! hopefully you didnt overtighten it.
I hope this helps!

Keep in mind that the torque spec on the front caliper bolts is 36 ft-lbs, so if you were using a small crecent wrench you would have needed to apply more like 80 to 90 lbs to get it to budge.
Just a thought...

I used a gorilla breaker arm with a socket to get mine, it took some doing but the arm is about 18 inches extended, so you get mad leverage. A crecent is better for higher loads? I'd think that 6 points of force would be better than two, and most modern sockets have convex faces that put force towards the center of the bolt sides, not at the edges where they're likely to strip.
