Spoon Brakes-Dont know how to change pads :(
How do you guys change the pads?
I thought all you did was unbolt the retaining pins and the pads just slide out?, I did that and the pads just dont want to come out at all.
I tried to push them out (screwdriver pushing from the other side), Got one pad out (drivers caliper) but it was a fight, Ended up unbolting the whole caliper to get the other pad out.
Passenger side-I figured I could wedge a screwdriver between the pad and rotor and push the pistons in a little to slide out the pads. Ended up unbolting the whole caliper on this side too. Pads just dont want to come out.
It cant be that hard (especially if you have to change them at the track), What am I doing wrong? I thought it would be a simple 5 minute job that ended up to be over an hour.
EDIT...Pads are Axxis Ultimates (street), trying to replace to track only pads on the Spoon Calipers. It is my intention to change pads at the track.
Just ordered the Snap-on tool to push the pistons, Anyone want to explain to me how to use it? I am assuming you got to get the pads out first,
which I am having the hardest time doing.

I just remove the caliper and install the pads from the inside.
It's just a bitch getting the washers in place when you put the calipers back on. Heh.

That too.

Remind me to look closely at your setup next time. I'm always curious the difference from OEM.

Actually, I dont remember if I took the brake resorvoir cap off or not?
I will try it again. So I take it that I had the right idea of wedging the screwdriver inbetween the rotor and pad to push the pistons in a little first?
And, yes it is a bitch getting the washers back in place when you remove the caliper.
BTW, this is how I have it Spoon Bolt>hub flange>washer>Spoon Caliper. Is this correct? (Makes me wonder why Spoon machined the Caliper the thickness of the washer; No machine, no need for washer
)

Yep. Correct setup on a US Hype R.
Seems like the 98 Spec ITR might have a slightly different knuckle per the instructions included with the calipers (compared to 96 Spec).
