'04 Civics are good as a commuter cars nothing more. Wanna go fast? Get an 88-00 Civic and do a swap or pick up an SRT-4.

If you are "into" Honda's and are into it for speed then I would recommend running the **** away from a 04 honda. Try grabbing up a EK hatch (96-98, 99-00 civic hatchback) and swapping in a nice motor and suspension and blah....

welcome to the world of hondas
an 04 honda would be hard to modify b/c of the lack of parts around nowadays

be like me and get a 92-95 civic hatch or coupe (decent passenger cars)and do a motor swap

if u ever mess anything up its pretty affordable to repair/replace on those years

good luck

Used S2k would be rather painful for insurance purposes being his age. I'd say get a 03 RSX-S or something like that, which would still be heavy on the pocket.

well..what do you want to do with your car? Are you doing to use it for commuting, or do you want to mod it and get some decent speeds with it? Your price range is 20K?

ya, he might be able to smoke a stock civic or integ, but with his price range he could get a cheap hatch back drop in a b18 and turbo that **** and give the srt-4 a run for the money....and all this by saving lots of cash.

Thanks everyone for your advice....sounds like i should hold off buying a civic till I do some more research into other cars...the main purposes for this car are gas, decent passenger space, and speed...thanks again

...or a used WRX. If I had 20K of disposable income, the Honda dealer would not be the first place I stopped for a test drive.

S2000 though

20g's??? Get a Civic hatch 99-00 for $5g's. Slap in an Integra GSR (B18C) motor for $3000. Tein adjustable coilovers for $1000. Slap on a set of Advan or Rays rims with tires $3000. After all that you still have enough money to do whatever else you want!

Oh yeah the 04 Civic's are way to new, too economical and are very unexciting so don't expect a lot of support from manufacteres, unless its the Si of course.

You could get a '04 Civic Si, If you're willing to haggle with the dealers it is very possible to get it down to 19,000 (fully loaded). My dad did it! But my dad wanted to pay 17,000 in cash and they since they wouldn't go any further we ended up not getting one.

if you like hondas i would say you have 3 choices IMO
1. eg hb w/ swap
2. GSR teg
3. ITR teg
bbuuuutttttttt if you want something a lil differant and IMO a lil nicer i would go with the new dodge SRT-4 or a used WRX, my friend picked on up for $19,500 and it was a 2003. and welcome

I remember when they first came out. I went to the Honda dealer to go look for them. There were 3 of them parked by a group of Oddessys and I passed by them 5 times. Finally a sales person had to point them out to me.

If thats the case, then an 04 civic EX sedan might suit you pretty good.
