Default **ENGINE QUESTION/HELP***

ok i always thought 92 - 93 gsr were 1.7 or b17 motors. then 94 came the 1.8 or b18 here. i think? First question, is this the same in japan 92-93 being 1.7 and 94+ being1.8 if its true? ok now i purchased a b18c1 about a year ago and thought it was a jdm b18c 94+ at least i thought. so i found out how to check the year i just went and checked the stamp on the head and it said 93 and the block says b18c. now i dont know if in japan 93 was the year they came out or maybe if it was pieced together as in gsr/type r block with a b17 or b18 head. any thoughts would help on this or anyways to check if it was pieced? and how to tell a jdm R block from a jdm c1 ? sorry may not make sense but was hard to put into words so pleae bear with me.. please help clear up

i am almost sure on this, but the motors were built a little before the car was. so the head says 93, meaning the car was a 94.
as for the 92 - 93 gsr, the u.s. one is 1.7 and again, i think that the jdm ones are 1.6.
anyone feel free to correct me where i am wrong because getting wrong info sucks!

92-93 USDM GSR's were 1.7 liters and the JDM ones were 1.8, not 1.6.

could be just production date. most cars and motors are assembled well before their model year.
