Default Sorry, another newbie question..

I'm 17 and doing some research about what sort of car to get. I was set on a BMW 323i, but decided to get something a little more practical (the BMW would have been used, of course) so now I'm set on getting a 2001 Civic. I'm not the biggest fan of the chrome, but I'll live with it. I drive a '91 Accord, btw.

Here's my question: I want to definetely get a car with a built in CD player, and I hate the look of after-market options. I know Honda is notorious for limiting options, and can't figure out what the deal is. Edmunds says that the LX/DX models did not have the CD std or as an option, while the EX had it standard. That would be great, but after a quick look at autotrader it appears that not all fo the EXs have the CD player. Couldn't be because they didn't get that option.. becuase it wasn't an option. So what gives? Was it only the cars that were produced later in the year?

Second, I've noticed that some autotrader listings mention "leather seats" on the EX model. I've never seen any pictures of this, and once again Edmunds doesn't list it as being std or an option. What's up with that?

Finally, did any of the '01s have keyless entry? If not, when was the first year this was available?

Thanks a lot, and sorry if this isn't the right forum.

Get whatever the hell you want man. Don't listen to a bunch of people who won't ever meet you or see your car online's opinions. You're the one paying for it so get what you want. As far as the CD player, I can't say for sure. I have one friend with a '01 EX and it has a CD player. If you do end up purchasing a car without the CD player, I'm sure there will be someone on this board with an '01 OEM CD Player for sale after they upgrade to something bigger and better. And the '01's do have keyless entry. That started in '96. Leather seats, agian don't know, but I would imagine it's a dealer option just like it has been on the Civics for years now. Best of luck in your searches man!

I'm getting the 01 because I want the lower mileage and the just-off-warantee. Frankly, I'm not head over heels about any civic styling, but at least the new ones look new.

Still no CD player answer.. and as for the keyless entry, I definetely know of a friend who has an 02 or 03 and I'm 99.9% sure that it doesn't have keyless entry. Even the really cheapo models had keyless since 96?

Still no answer.. was the CD player std on '01 EX? Did all 01 civics have keyless entry? Thanks.

Also, if I buy a civic w/out the CD, how much would it cost to install the factory CD on avg?

probably not standard with the ex. they probably didnt come with keyless entry and it will probably cost the price of the upgrade to the cdplayer to get it. if you are lucky they will install it for free cuz it takes 3 minutes.
