dont know when it started but when my car is not running and sitting for a while it makes this humming sound what sounds like its coming from the gas tank and it does it at random times but ive only heard it when the car is off please help me figure out what the hell it is thanks

Hmmm... its coming from the rear? And the key isn't even in the car?

 

EVAP system.. It only happens when you are low on fuel. Open the gas lid, and let the pressure out. Fill up on gas!

I bet its like a squeal/moan sound?

well it isnt the evap system it made that damn sound last night when i had a full tank any other ideas?

Are you getting a check engine light (CEL) at all?

 

no the cel light isnt on

 

You said the car was sitting? For how long? If it's long enough I would
drain the tank and put new gas in it.

 

it would be sitting from being parked for a while and i doubt i need a new tank its a 2000 with 50k

 

I wasn't saying replace the tank. I was saying to drain the tank and
put new gas in it. Starting and driving a car after it's been sitting for
a little while can cause some weird issues.
