Default E-Brake 4th Gen

I have a 4th Gen Prelude and was wondering if anyone has changed out there e-brake. I'm a rather tall guy in my lude and the ebrake, when parked, digs into my leg. So I figured I would change it out. Any suggestions, brands?
And I also heard that in 5th Gens you actually have to cut the e-brake off. I hope I don't have to do the same in the 4th Gen.

You could see about maybe changing the center console to a 92-93 when the e-brake was on the right hand side next to the passengers seat.

in 92 and 93 the ebrake was centered! from 94 to 96 the brake moved over to the passenger side.

really?? Because mine is right next to me on the left hand side. When its down its not a problem because its flush with the arm rest but when its up... man it's a pain!
I looked around on ebay and I found some, but not a whole lot of specifics. (bolt on, welded on, etc.)

from what i understand, all you need to do is re drill the mounting points for the ebrake. however this was switching from a 92-93 center position to a the 94-96 location. it has been awhile since i looked into it though, i recommend you search for console conversion in archived contents.

i am in no way trying to jack this thread but, does anyone have the know-how to tighten up the eBrake? I gotta pull that thing to the last click for it to do any good. pm me if you know.

as for your console problem, yeah a 92 console would call for a relocation and reweld of the ebrake setup but it has been done. just search up on things like 'dash conversion' or 'center console conversion' good luck

okay yeah I guess it would be more centered than to the right...

You adjust the ebrake right behind the lever under the center console.

Just to put the correct information out there...

92-93 the E-brake was perfectly centered
94-96 the E-brake was directly next to the driver (only in RHD cars is the 94-96 handle on the 'passenger' side because passenger side is driver side).

Here's a pic of my console for mjensen:

(and the ebrake handle isn't my fault so noone say anything about it )

If you do switch the older style centre console you will have to relocate the mirror controls as on this interior on the JDM version it is in the drivers doorcard! (Not sure about te USDM)

Preude Styl: Damn that a nice leather clad 4g seat! Is that the stock leather?

Thanks OTT, yea it's the stock 92 leather. It's decent for being 12 years old.

Yeah that is nice leather. And the type R handle isn't bad either
You can tell I have a '92, I really thought the brake handle was next to the passenger seat. Oops! Time for the '93 conversion mjensens, unless you want a long box console that goes all the way to the back seats.

Thanks for all the input... I think for the time being I'm going to just stick with it until I can find some more info on the whole ebrake thing. From the pictures, graciously provided by Prelude Styl, I think I might enjoy the 94-96 center console better. But thanks again for all the info!

Haha, yeah I much prefer the 94+ console... cup holder, armrest .. eventually I'll switch mine out unless I can find the extremely elusive armrest for my console.

Thanks Jagan.
