my crx just finshed gettin another 1.5 swap, and it smokes to,?is it cuz im using the same headers and exhaust that i had to the previous engine that smoked??
any one got a clue?

 

extra sized battery
where does it smoke?
from the engine or from the exhaust
be more specific because you might have got oil on the header, causing it to smoke for a while or till it dries

new swaps will smoke for a hour our so a little tell all the oil that gets everywhere when u do the swap.

 

That is the risk you run swapping in ANY used motor that you buy.....throw in rings/valve guides next time for insurance!

 

the extra size battery was just to turn it on right after the swap.....its coming from the exhaust only,and the headers do have a lil oil......it was just a swap....i might just sell it but if is stops smokin......... i'll keep it ,and just buy Dohc vtec after a while but i need it to work if not im sellin it................

 

well just run it for a while and it should stop smoking. might just need a fresh headgasket? :D

He means it is coming from the exhaust where it exits the car. In that case it's, A.)bad rings, B.)Bad valve guide seals, C.)Leaky HG.

Don't be an ******* and sell it to someone else without telling them.

well i got bad compression on cyl number 3 on my car and my car doesnt smoke it jsut hesitates and stumbles till like 2500+ rpm's and loss of power either i have a bad ring or valve

 

Changing the piston rings would take you a hell of a long time to do yourself with little knowledge and just a manual and to pay someone to do it wouldnt be worth it.

Just let it run and put some descent fresh gas and oil in it and see if it goes away.

My guess is probably worn rings

damn people flaming because he doenst know much about his car, you guys get a life.

anyways i would take it to a mecanic and have them do a compression test and a cylinder leak down test. that will tell you if the rings or valves are going or are bad.

what color is the smoke btw?

and if you need anything off a STD i got a spare laying around. so lmk

 

well my pops is a mecanic but he doesnt have all those compression tools or to check the cylinder leaks,i was thinking bout bringing it to a lisenced mecanic but i dunno how much it'll cost&gt;?well pops saids is just cuz its cold down here, mr friend thinks its gas, .......when it idels it smokes a little bit out the exhaust but by the time it gets out ,it disappears within a foot or two?i dont think it smells like oil.....im bout to buy a new exhaust pipe and muffler.&lt;do u think that might be it??
cuz the one i have looks pretty beat up....i dunno any more questions i'll answer hit me up......

 

does it overheat or smell like antifreeze when you idle for a while? may be a blown headgasket
