Prelude rear defroster
I remember reading in someone's signature that they knew how to avoid or fix the problem with the rear defroster. I guess the problem is that some people have had their rear windows shatter from having the defroster on all the time. I want to avoid this problem by, hopefully, getting it fixed.

Just like this post is stating. I would like to know the fix for the rear defroster problem. If anyone knows it.

I saw a Vaxhall Frontera rear window shatter from the defroster on my way back from work once, got out and made sure the woman was ok; it really scared her! i was in the lane next to her and traffic was crawling all i saw was what looked like rain at first then i realised it was te rear window!... But Damn I never heard of it hapening on Preludes! is this 4 or 5Gs?

This problem apparently occurs in 4th gen... I remember seeing someone with a signature that stated he knew the fix for it. I wanted to get the info from him, but I don't remember his name. I haven't timed mine, I usually turn it off right after the rear window is defrosted... but if there is a permenant fix for it... why not fix it right?

hey if it aint broke dont fix it man.
unfortunately though, this happened to me. however, it was not because it was left on too long, it had been exactly five minutes after i turned it on that it sounded like someone wanted to put a cap in my ***. boy it was not a very comforting car ride home (wet snow). when i took the rear ceiling off to clear out the old frame, i found that the connector going from the grid to the grounding point was burnt to a crisp. i'm still worried about replacing that wire, so i go with no defroster, aka. pita.
if you find a fix(!), let me know

Never had a problem with it on my 5th gen. Use it probably 100 days out of the year - it does turn off by itself, and I usually turn it right back on again 'cause the ice or whatever still hasn't melted.
