Spoon piston seized up!! track pad recommendation..
I'd just done a track day and during the 1st half I changed my toasted track pads for another set. When I tried to push the pistons back with my bare hands, I noticed that 3 of them went back without too much effort but the on at the bottom on the inside (fluid entry side) would not move and no matter what I tried it just wouldn't move even with some huge pliers. I ended up taking the whole caliper off, put it on the floor and had to stand on it!!! The same with the other caliper.. This is my 1st track day with these calipers on and prior to this it had only seen about 200-300 miles from new...It can't be bad seals can it as they are still new?
Has anybody experienced this before?
Is there a tool off the shelf for the purpose of extracting the pistons off the caliper?
Also for a track pad only which is better - Axxis ultimate or Ferodo DS3000?

Even OEM calipers are hard to move. Most use a c-clamp and something to lay across the piston face. I usually put the end of a mallet into the piston and then grab the caliper with both hands and use my torso against the head of the mallet to create enough force to move it. Its hard

DS3000
DS3000
you would be surprised how well an axxiss ultimate performs on track (for a street pad), but between the 2, the Ferodo is a purpose track pad and will perform much better

splitime answered the question about what to do... i thought. It matters little if it was a oem piston or one from a spoon caliper, IMO.
And axis ultimates and ds3000's are intended for two entirely different purposes - sure, the axis may do well, but the DS3000 is much better for the track.
