Default Help with getting new shoes on my Type R

Just bought a 2000 ITR w/ turbo pumping well over 300 HP equiped with stock wheels and my main concern is getting rid of some of the tire spinning that happens under hard acceleration. Hopefully I can put all the power to the ground with a set of new wheels and grippy tires. I know 15"s perform better but I figure that an extra inch won't make that big of a difference with the kind of HP I have, so I'm going with 16"s for the sake of appearance. I'm new to the import scene and a dummy when it comes to performance parts. Thinking about 16x7 Rota wheels with 205/45-16 Falken Azenis. How about 205/40-16 or 215/40-16s on them? And also I'm a bit confused as to what bolt size to get. 4x100x40 or 4x100x45? And what does 40 or 45 indicate? And lastly, I know this is really up to individual's preference but on a black ITR, what color wheels would you put on? Any sort of tips or suggestions appreciated.

the 40 or the 45 is the offset of the rim.

question since when does a type r have a 4x100 lug pattern????

Man - that is a tough car to have for an import newbie. I hope you have some friends around you that know what they are doing...300+ whp ITR is VERY intense...Do you have any idea how to maintain it?

Okay, so wut bolt pattern does ITR have? I have a close friend pumping 350 HP on his S2000 who can help me out but he's currently out of town and I'd also like other people's suggestions.

96-97 JDM type R's have the "big 4" lug pattern. But it's highly unlikely that his is that.

Can we see some pics of the beast that you speak of ? or did you spend all of your money on the car and not a digital camera ?

On topic though...the 16 inch rotas with 215-45/16 azenis tires would be a good choice.

I'm sure it's 5x114. I didn't even check if it has 4 or 5 lugs and just listed the first size I saw on the wheels page. Any recommendations for increasing traction? Sorry no digital camera... and I got an awesome deal on the sucker so I have some money left over for new wheels. And it's really a traction/wheels post than a ITR specific post which is why I posted it here.

not ITR specific?

you're looking for information on ITR tire sizing, ITR wheel sizing, on a ITR?

i'd say it's ITR specific

Aight maybe so. I'll start one in the correct forum then but any suggestion still appreciated. And you call BS? You mean you want me to get BBS wheels? Wut's there to BS for wut?

Texnteg, I've used up my 5 posts for the day so this is the only way I can reply but anyhow I'm definitely open for tips on tires. Let me mention that this is the only car I drive so no race tires.

mrmonk, wut's there for me to bs? I'm bsing that I just bought a 300+ hp ITR? Is it that hard to believe with 8sec imports all over the place now days? Maybe it's hard to believe that a dummy who doesn't know how many rugs are on ITR owns one haha. Or do you assume I'm a lil 14-year-old who wishes he had a ITR? I guess people here bs alot. Anyhow, if you don't want to believe it that's perfectly fine and I'll post pics when I get a chance (and after I get my front lip installed).

i think there are better choices out there for tires. but, since that isn't the point of the thread. a 45-series will serve you better.
