So i went to get my brakes inspected yesterday and i had a coupon thing for a free inspection and they were fine but the mechanic comes back and says your brakes are fine but you need a new left HALFSHAFT.

My question is could he have even have been able to tell i needed a new one by just checkin out my brakes and maybe noticing it? Or is he just trying to get me to spend some money since my brakes were fine??
