GM Synchromesh and bad mainshaft bearing
It looks like my mainshaft bearing needs to be replaced. It makes a spinning/grinding noise when the clutch is not pressed, but stops when the clutch is pressed to the floor. The noise comes back again about an inch before the top. It also makes a bit of a whinning noise when I drive, so I'm guessing this is the mainshaft bearing. (someone correct me if I'm wrong) I doubt it's the throw out bearing cause it has been replaced. Anyways if I put in the GM synchromesh will the grinding noise go away? Surely someone has had an experience as the mainshaft bearing is a common problem.

Will it help with the bearing problem, or just with the synchros?
