Default Newbie questions

I'm going to help a friend (Mark) mod his 2000 Prelude SH. I'm a Subaru guy, don't know much about hondas. What are some good basic starting power mods. I'm thinking DC ceramic headers, AEM intake, an exhaust. What else? ACT clutch?
Thanks in advance

That all sounds good for some basic mods. I know a larger TB and a tune might help also. I would watch the ACT clutch though. I am sure you aren't going too extreme with the clutch. If you would like my opinion, I would go with Clutchmasters or Clutchnet. They are very good clutches, and don't have as harsh an engagement as the ACT. Also the ACT works your Hydraulics, the others aren't as hard. Don't get me wrong I like my ACT, but I will be switching to Clutchmasters soon!

Add another vote for Clutchmasters.

In addition to your basic list consider lightweight flywheel and adjustable cam timing sprockets. http://www.unorthodoxracing.com is what I'm aiming for.
The ultimate mod is the Quaife ATB LSD, $895. The power's no good if you can't put it to the ground.

Those are pretty much the basic mods. Don't forget to add pullies to his list, and lower it

I also say add pullies and a lightened flywheel (fidanza) to the mix. Personally I wouldn't use clutchmasters or ACT, I'd use RPS or Exeddy. I've heard a few horror stories about clutchmasters and ACT.

I have heard only great things about ACT. I didn't know they used clutch cylinders more aggressively than others. I really do not care if I have to replace my clutch cylinders every 15,000 - 30,000 miles... Would it still be work it, or does there clutch destroy them faster, thanks...

Dude, maybe if you've got mega horsepower, but how much clamping power do you need? ACT extreme pressure plate will have you replacing clutch master cylinder.

I agree, those are the only two companies I've never heard anything bad about. I believe that VeeTec had a clutchmasters on his car and it got ruined pretty quick.

What engine does he have? ie engine code. I know it's a 2.2 DOCH VTECH(right?)
What are the differences between the SH model (which he has) and the other models they have. Which is the best to have?
Thanks,
Mike

you have the base model and the SH model. The SH has an active diff (ATTS) that helps it corner better through turns.
Base model is just minus that system.

Yes, its' the H22A4 in both. DOHC 2.2 VTEC
