Alright guys, my buddy recently purchased a high milage RS w/ 172k on the clock. We were swapping the motor this weekend and noticed that the tranny was noticeably cleaner than the rest of the block, and saw that the tranny had only a sticker on it that read "Y80- numbers" And a friend of mine said that he believes that it is a GSR tranny. Could this have been a dealer mistake? He has a record of all the maintenence that has been done to this car but doesn't have it at this time. Thanks for your help guys!

 

ok, so you guys didnt install the tranny ? who did you buy the swap off of?

as far as i know it is a gsr tranny

 

we didn't buy a swap, the car came w/ this tranny attached to the motor. We're swapping in a completely different GSR motor. My question is, did he buy a car w/ a GSR tranny in it??

 

well it sounds like he did buy it with it . . .
