Default new Engine in my 90 Civic HB

hey, I've got a 90 civic HB dx that I am really wanting to start autocross racing in. I currently have the D16A6 si motor in it, but that's coming out. I have asked some people about the b20 and I've heard that a good swap is a B20 with a GSR or Type R head on it.
I want to go all motor, so what are your thoughts on this engine combo. Any other suggestions. I like the B20 because of the 2.0 and that they're not used that much. I know about the b16... a lot about it, but I want something different, maybe something to give me a bit of an edge. Let me know... thanks, ahknodd

B20 would give you the tourque and the R head would give you the HP, i would recommend using some 12.5 comp 84mm pistons and some good rods for the bottom end, get a type R head and do crvtec basically with a b16 tranny and that setup will move pretty well.

If you're going to do any kind of sanctioned racing, I'd check the rule book before doing anything.

i was going to say the same thing, if you dont have any autoX experence leave everything stock and run the stock class for a while to get the feel for it, then you can do stuff and move up in the class. You have a great engine to start for autoXing, run a race or 2, do some struts and springs and a rear sway bar and run STS, then do a swap and run MOD
edit: oh yeah BTW it's driver skill and suspention setup that wins races, not power

Thanks guys for the help... I'll take all of that into account. I think I'll get into that stock class and build up my suspension like Sideout said, but I'll be building my engine in my garage in the mean time. Again, thanks... Later, ahknodd
